Geography

The village is located 18 km south-west of the center of the village of Slednevo and 5 km from the Arsaki railway station on the Moscow - Alexandrov line .

Church of Boris and Gleb in 2013

The village of Volokhovo, or Borisoglebskoe ( Aleshkovo ) has been known since the 17th century. According to local legend, there was a monastery devastated in the Time of Troubles . In 1699, in the patriarchal salary books, “the church in the estate of Zhdan Vasilyev’s son Telitsin in Pereslavl-Zalessky district in Gulyatina, I will stand in the wasteland that was the village of Borisoglebskoye-Aleshkovo and Volokhovo identity”. The wooden temple of the Martyrs of the Blessed Princes Boris and Gleb was consecrated in 1700. In 1777 the temple was rebuilt, the main throne retained its name. In 1782, the aisles of St. Alexis, Metropolitan of Moscow and Great Martyr Barbara, were consecrated. In 1805, at the expense of the landowner A.A. Baskakov and his three brothers began the construction of the now existing stone church of the Holy Blessed Princes Boris and Gleb. When digging ditches under the foundations, graves were found in which the remains of monastic clothing survived. In 1831, the main throne was consecrated. The church has the grave of the historian, local historian and bibliographer Nikolai Semenovich Stromilov (1842-1895), as well as his father. In the 1930s, the temple was closed, and the 1960s was partially destroyed. Back in the late 1990s. it was desolate, but in recent years, its revival began with the efforts of local residents.

In the XIX and first quarter of the XX century, the village was part of the Alexander volost of the Alexander district . Population ( 1859 ) - 128 [2] people.

During the years of Soviet power until 1998, the village was part of the Arsakovsky village council .

Attractions

In the village is the Church of Boris and Gleb (1805-1831). In the temple, catechetical conversations are held by the rector Father Leonid. The temple is developing, being restored, it needs prayer and material support. With the assistance of the new Board of Trustees, in 2014, a Cross was erected on the temple, road signs for the temple were placed, a number of icons were painted, including in the central aisle [9] .
