History of the Reserve
The creation of a historical and cultural reserve is associated with the work of the Vyshgorod archaeological expedition of the Institute of the History of Material Culture (1934-1937) under the leadership of Taddei Movchanovsky . At a meeting in July 1934, it was decided to apply to state security agencies with a project to protect the entire complex of Mezhigorya’s facilities, and make separate parcels protected. They did not forget about the conjuncture: it was believed that Vyshgorod would attract "great attention of historians and writers in connection with the problems of the history of the city of Kiev." It was also believed that to accomplish the tasks of the expedition, “the preparation and concentration of the best scientific forces from all over Ukraine” is needed.
A production meeting on declaring the territory of the settlement as a reserve was held on July 16, 1935. The efforts of scientists and local historians were not in vain - on September 9, 1935, the territory of ancient Vyshgorod was declared reserve by official decree. But after the Second World War, no one remembered about the reserve.
The modern Vyshgorod Historical and Cultural Reserve was founded in 1994, according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine and the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The first director was Kushniruk Vitaly Nikolaevich. Since autumn 2016, the reserve is managed by Candidate of Historical Sciences Litovchenko Vlada .
In 2006, one of the leading divisions of the reserve was opened - the Museum of the Pottery of Russia-Ukraine.
Established in 1982, the Vyshgorod Historical Museum is the oldest structural unit of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve. In 2008 it was reconstructed. In 2010, the Territory of the Historic Landscape of the Old Russian City of Vyshgorod was entered into the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine. In addition to the detinets of the Vyshgorod settlement, it includes the building of the ancient streets of Kalnyshevsky and Mezhygorsky Spas, coastal slopes with a strand of green areas. Landscape Education. This pretty landscape has tremendous historical and artistic value and requires careful storage, as it can be disturbed by even minor interference.
