Biography
Since 1622 he studied theology at the University of Leiden . At the invitation of Krzysztof Radziwill came to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, taught at the Slutsk Calvinist gymnasium , for some time its rector [1] . He was the home teacher of Janusz Radziwill , the future great Lithuanian hetman , accompanied him while studying at foreign universities. Returning to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1633, he became a court preacher at Janusz Radziwill. In 1636 he was sent to Paris with a letter from the Calvinists of the Commonwealth to Hugo Grotius . In 1642, on behalf of the Vilna Evangelical community, he inspected Calvinist schools in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. He lived at the court of J. Radziwill in Kaydani , systematized and supplemented the library. He participated in Protestant synods in Orly in Podlasie (1644) and Torun (1645) [2] .
Scientific and pedagogical activity
In Slutsk , in 1628, together with his colleagues Andrei Dobriansky and Andrei Muzonii, he compiled a statute, program and class schedule for the gymnasium in Latin (“Ordo scholae slucensis”, Lyubcha, 1628). The book provides guidance on the history and literature, the organization of the school theater , physical training of students. The Belarusian nature and the spiritual appearance of the Slutchyna residents are also characterized.
In 1629, the Vilnius synod approved Reynold Adam's textbooks on the history and rhetoric of the Slutsk Compendium (Compendium rhetoricum ... in usum Scholae Slucensis). The latter contains three parts: “Method, questions and canons”, “On the meaning of the art of speech”, “Special rhetoric”. In an appeal to the reader, the author writes: “Life, the most fascinating - in the schools of these workshops of human souls - is less malignant here, the suitability and talent of a person are preserved here” [3] .
