These places have been inhabited since the Neolithic; archaeologists have also discovered traces of Roman settlements.
In the documents of 1332–1335, the name of the village is written as “Küke” or “Koke”. In a document from 1546, it is called “Kőke”. Mention of the name "Kyoken" appears in 1773.
After the Turkish occupation, this village was inhabited mainly by Croats. Hungarians began to appear there much later, and settled mainly on the outskirts.
