The 2016 Curling Cup of Canada ( English2016 Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling ) was held in Brandon ( Manitoba Province) from November 30 to December 4,2016 for both men's and women's teams. The Cup was held for the 13th time.

Tournament winners, in addition to prize money, received automatic qualifications for participation in the next Canada Cup in 2018 , in the next Continental Cup 2017 (as part of the North American team), as well as in the next Canadian Olympic curling 2017 .
Among the men's teams, the winners (for the first time in their history) were the skip team of Reed Carrazers . [one]
Among the women's teams, the winners were the skip team Jennifer Jones (winning the Cup for the third time in its history; previous victories were in 2007 and 2011 ). Jennifer Jones became the most titled female skip in the history of the Cup of Canada, equal in number of victories to Stephanie Lawton , but having in reserve one more 2nd place (in 2006 ), which Lawton does not have. Tournament Qualification
7 male and 7 female teams took part in the men's and women's Cups. The winners of the men's and women's championships of Canada 2016 (respectively, the teams of skipsKevin Cui and Chelsea Carey , respectively) were automatically qualified for the Cup. Also, the winners (in the case of men, the finalists) of the previous Canada Cup 2015 (respectively, the teams of skips Mike McEwan and Rachel Homan ) received automatic qualification. The remaining 5 places in each of the draws were filled by the teams that occupy, if you do not take into account the above teams, according to the results of the 2015-2016 season, the five best places in the rating system of Canadian teams CTRS ( Eng.Canadian Team Ranking System ) [3][4] .
Competition Format
At the first, group stage, the teams play among themselves in a circular system in one circle. The three best teams in the group stage go to the second stage, playoffs , where they play according to the Olympic system : the team that took 1st place goes directly to the final, the teams that took 2nd and 3rd place in the group play in the semifinals for reaching the final.
