Mia Love ( born Ludmya Bourdeau "Mia" Love ; born December 6, 1975 , Brooklyn , New York ) is an American politician who has been a member of the US House of Representatives from the 4th Utah constituency since January 2015, representing the Republican Party .

Biography
Mia Love was born in New York , her parents, Haitian immigrants Mary and Jean-Maxine Burdo, left for the United States on a tourist visa, fearing persecution by the Taunton Macut and leaving two older children in their homeland. When Love was five years old, she moved with her family to Norwalk , Connecticut , where she graduated from high school, then studied at the University of Hartford .
In 1998, after moving to Mormonism and working as a flight attendant at Continental Airlines , she moved to Utah. There she married Jason Love.
In 2009, she was elected mayor of the city of Saratoga Springs .
In 2012, according to the 2010 census , a new, fourth constituency was created in Utah. Love put forward her candidacy for this place, her rival was a Democrat , congressman from the 2nd district Jim Matheson . She received support from Republican presidential and vice-presidents Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan , as well as Speaker of the House of Representatives John Beyner [1] , but despite this she lost with a difference of only 768 votes with 245 277 voters (the difference was 0 , 31%).
In March 2013, Love stated that she was seriously considering re-participating in the elections to the House of Representatives [2] . In May of the same year, she announced that she would participate in them in 2014. By July 2013, Love had already raised $ 475,000 for her election campaign [3] . In December 2013, Matheson announced that he would not be re-elected for a new term, and Love became the favorite of the election race. As a result, she won, gaining 53.76% of the vote [4] .
