Mirza Ragim oglu Mammadov ( Azer. Mirzə Rəhim oğlu Məmmədov ; 1909 , Lankaran district - 1973 , Baku ) - Soviet Azerbaijani teacher and statesman.

Biography
Born in 1909 in the village of Syodi, Lankaran district (now the village of Siyov, Lerix district of Azerbaijan).
In 1917, the Mamedov family moved to Baku, but after the March events of 1918, they returned back to Sioda. In 1919, Mirza’s parents die and he ends up in Baku orphanage No. 1 in Baku [1] .
In 1923, Mammadov was accepted into the ranks of the Komsomol , after which in 1926 he became the senior leader in one of the pioneer detachments of the orphanage No. 2 in Baku.
In 1932 he graduated from the Academy of Communist education named after NK Krupskaya [1] .
From 1932 to 1935 he was a member of the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Azerbaijan, and also worked as an editor in the magazines "Ganj Bolshevik" ("Young Bolshevik") and "Pioneer".
From 1935 to 1938, the first secretary of the Lenkoran district party committee. From 1938 to 1942, the People's Commissar of Public Education of the AzSSR [2] . From 1942 to 1944 Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan.
In 1942 he was sent on a diplomatic mission to Iran. From 1944 to 1946 he worked as vice-consul in Iran.
After returning from Iran in 1946, he held various posts in the Baku City Party Committee, the Ministry of Commerce of the AzSSR and the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan SSR.
In 1954, a ministry of public education was created in the republic, and Mirza Mamedov was appointed to the post of minister. Mamedov was devoted to his work and made a great contribution to the overall development of education, the teaching and material base of schools, kindergartens and primary schools [1] .
In 1959, he was appointed director of the Azerbaijan Research Institute of Education.
The author of a large number of scientific articles and works - the most famous of them: "The development of compulsory education in the Azerbaijan SSR", "Methods of the Azerbaijani language" and "Methods of teaching literature in Azerbaijan."
Deputy of the Council of Nationalities of the Supreme Soviet of the I convocation from the Azerbaijan SSR in the Lankaran district [3] . He was repeatedly elected deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR. Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan from 1942 to 1944 and from 1960 to 1961 [4] .
He died on May 5, 1973 in the city of Baku [1] . He was buried at the Second Alley of Honorary Burial in Baku.
