Biography

Ailton Canela was born in the city of Matana (state of Sao Paulo). He is a graduate of the Internacional football school from Bebedouro , as part of which he began playing football at an adult level in 2012 in the third division of the Paulista League . Until 2014, he played for small semi-professional teams - Vitoria Kapishaba, Monti Azul and Olympia from the city of the same name in the state of São Paulo. In 2015, he became a base player at Monti Azul, which attracted the attention of Botafogo from Ribeiran Preto , in which Canela became the Brazilian champion in Serie D in the same year.

In mid-2016, the 21-year-old striker acquired the Serie A club Chapecoense, in which Canela made his debut at the top level on August 5 in the Brazilian championship game against Palmeiras (1: 1) [2] . Juninho appeared infrequently, playing for Chape until the end of November, four matches in Serie A (he also played the last game against Palmeiras), as well as two games in the South American Cup - against Cuiaba and the Argentinean Independente . As a result, Chapecoense reached the first in the history of the club finals of the international tournament [3] .

On November 28, 2016, Ailton Canela died in a plane crash near Medellin, along with another 18 club players and the club’s coaching staff in full strength, who flew to the first final match of UAC-2016 with Atletico Nacional [3] .
