“The Lady in Red” (translated from English - “Lady in Red”) is the song of the Irish singer and songwriter Chris de Burgh , the second single from his eighth studio album Into the Light .

Content

About the song

The song was written by de Burg about his wife Diana, although the song does not explicitly indicate this, and was released as part of the Into the Light album. In the documentary series This Is Your Life de Bourg, the song was inspired by the memory of the first time he saw Diana and the thoughts that men often cannot even remember what their wives were wearing at the time of their first meeting [ 2] . The final words of the song are a declaration of love .

Music video

The video clip for “The Lady in Red” was filmed by director Peter Lippman [3] and is a video cut of de Burgh's performance of a song in the studio or in the concert hall, with animation in the style of the album cover at the beginning of the clip and the cover of the single at the end. The video contains a heroine - a woman dressed, among other things, in red , according to the lyrics.

  • In 1987, de Bourg released a Spanish-language version of the song, called "La Dama de Ayer" (from the Spanish - "Lady from yesterday"). The song was released in Spain on a 7-inch record [35] .
