WWF Lodge Northern Lights

The first known lodge under the name "Northern Lights" was a lodge founded in St. Petersburg in 1909 by the Great East of France . The number of lodges was only 5 Masons. The box did not work for long, only 2 years, and in 1911 it was closed with all the WWF lodges in the Russian Empire [1] [2] .

Lodge "Northern Lights" No. 523 VLF

The constituent assembly was held on December 2, 1923. The box was installed on January 14, 1924. It was founded by the military, most of them former members of the Anglo-Saxon Lodge [3] . She worked under the auspices of the Grand Lodge of France according to the Ancient and adopted Scottish Charter under No. 523. Before the Second World War, she held meetings in the Russian Masonic House on Yvette Street, after the war in the Grand Lodge of France on Pyutaut Street. Restored after the war by G. N. Tovstoles on April 24, 1945. In 1946-1948, she often held joint meetings with the Lotus Lodge. In 1958-1959, she often gathered in the apartments of members of the lodge, then virtually ceased operations. Formally worked until 1965 [4] .

There were 19 creators of this lodge, and for the most part they were dedicated in the Astrea box No. 500 to the WLF. Among the founders were her future venerable masters , the industrialist Mamontov, the princes Vyazemsky and Lyshinsky, generals Polovtsov and Goleevsky. The lodge included many officers of the Imperial Guard, who belonged to the clan nobility, whose ancestors were often part of Russian military freemasonry of the 18th - early 19th centuries. This lodge was not only by the faith of its members, but also by its entire character a purely and emphasized Christian, one can even say deeply and soulfully Orthodox. Soon after installation, Count Adam Benigsen , Prince Ivan Vorontsov-Dashkov, Alexander Davydov, Count Dmitry Sheremetev , Count Alexander Keller , and later Sergey Makovsky, Nikita Muravyev and others [5] [6] joined the box. The number of lodges for 41 years (from 1924 to 1965) was 119 people [2] .
