The area is located in the northern part of the county of Hertfordshire , bordering the counties of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire .
History
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 as a result of the unification of the urban areas of Boldok , Letchuert , Hitchin , Royston and the rural district of Hitchin .
