Mazalov, Vladimir Vladimirovich

Vladimir Vladimirovich Mazalov (born 1963 ) is a Soviet skier who performed at the All-Union level in the mid-1980s. At the competitions he represented the Dynamo Sports and Fitness Society and the city of Kurgan , the champion of the USSR in the 50 km race, multiple prize-winner of all-Union championships in various ski disciplines, the USSR master of sports in international skiing.

Biography

Vladimir Vladimirovich Mazalov was born in 1963 .

He began to actively engage in skiing in the city of Kurgan , underwent training under the guidance of Honored Trainer Arthur Vlasovich Beledin . He was a member of the Dynamo Kurgan Physical-Sports Society.

It was a great success already at the junior level, he won and was among the winners at the championships of the RSFSR and the USSR among juniors [1] .

The first serious success at the adult all-Union level was achieved in the 1983 season, when he got into the main team of Dynamo Kurgan and spoke at the USSR personal-team championship in Syktyvkar , where he won the individual 50 km race. For this outstanding achievement at the end of the season, the first of the Trans-Ural skiers was awarded the honorary title " Master of Sports of the USSR of the international class ."

In 1984, at the All-Union Championship in the same Syktyvkar, Mazalov became a bronze medalist in the fifty-kilometer race, losing at the finish to Vladimir Sakhnov of Almaty and Yuri Burlakov of Khabarovsk. Being among the leaders of the national team at a distance of 50 km, he won the right to defend the honor of the country in this discipline at the Sarajevo Winter Olympics , but at the last moment the coaches considered him not ready enough and did not let him go.

Subsequently, Vladimir Mazalov for several years remained in the main part of the Kurgan Dynamo and continued to take part in major competitions of all-Union significance. So, in 1985 at the next championship of the USSR, he won a bronze medal in the 15 km race, losing only to Alexander Batyuk and Alexander Ushkalenko, and also added to his track record the silver dignity obtained in the 70 km race. The last time showed any significant result at the All-Union level in the 1986 season, when he visited the All-Union Championship in Syktyvkar and won the bronze medal in the men's relay race 4 × 10 km as part of the RSFSR national team [2] .
