Gallic tribes during the time of Guy Julius Caesar
Remy ( lat. Remi ) - one of the belga tribes, settled in the basin of the Matron river ( lat. Matrona ) in Marne .
The Axon River (now Ena ) flowed along their northern border. They were neighbors of the Nervies , Veromanduites , Swedes , Bellows and customers of the Carnites . Remy was one of the first to submit to Caesar , for which he enjoyed his patronage. Of the cities, the most significant were Durocorter (now Reims ) and Durocotalownes (now Chalon on the Marne ) [1] .
