Biography

The representative of the Ukrainian gentry clan Nemyrychi coat of arms " Klyamry ." The youngest son of the subcommittee of Kiev Stefan Nemirich (d. 1630 ) and Marta Voinarovskaya (d. 1632 ). The elder brothers are the subcommittee of Kiev Yuriy Nemirich and the elder of the Ovrutsk Vladislav Nemirich.

Initially studied at the school of Polish brothers in Rakov , then in Kisilin . Stefan Nemirich, like his father, was the guardian of the Arian Cathedral in Chernyakhov , which has existed since the beginning of the 17th century . In 1646, after the decision of the Lubelsky Tribunal to close the school and the cathedral, Stefan Nemirich refused to comply with this decision. In the same 1646, Stefan Nemirich went to study abroad, visited the Netherlands and France. In 1648, Stefan Nemirich returned by sea from the Netherlands to the Commonwealth. In March 1649, he was sent as a member of the delegation to the Polish king at the Sejm of the Kiev Voivodeship in Lutsk with a request for military assistance against the rebelled Ukrainian Cossacks. During the Flood of Sweden (1655-1660), Stefan Nemirich, together with other gentry of the Kiev Voivodeship, signed an act of submission to the King of Sweden.

In 1648, Stefan Nemirich and his brothers participated in the Diet, where he supported the candidacy of Jan Casimir Vazy. In the same year, the brothers shared their father’s inheritance: Stefan received Priborsk, Chernyakhov , Toporishche and 25 villages.

During the national liberation war in Ukraine in 1648-1657, Stefan Nemyrych fought on the side of the Commonwealth. Under the influence of his older brother Yuri Nemirich, Stefan joined the service in the Hetman. In 1658 - 1659 he was a general from the artillery of the Grand Duchy of Russia with the support of his brother Yuri and the patronage of the hetman Ivan Vygovsky after the conclusion of the Gadyachsky peace . He participated in battles with Russian troops and Ukrainian Cossacks, who supported them in 1658 - 1660 , in particular, in the battle of Chudnov , where the defeated Russians laid arms under his feet - the representative of the king. In compensation for the lost estates, in 1660 he received command of two regiments of the guard, which was supposed to bring about 40 thousand zlotys of annual income. After the death of his older brother Yuri Nemirich, Stefan in 1659 received the post of subcommittee of Kiev. His family estates were ravaged by Cossacks ( 1661 ) and Russians ( 1662 ). Stefan Nemirich was elected ambassador of the Sejm from the Kiev Voivodeship in 1661 and 1662 .

Probably, since 1664, Stefan Nemirich voluntarily retired to emigration, taking his brothers from the children. Initially, he wanted to settle in Manheim, in 1664 he transferred money to his friend Stanislav Lyubenetsky for the construction of a spacious house (he sold it in 1671 ). On May 1, 1671, he wrote a petition to Prince Boguslav Radziwill to accept him for service or to provide patronage to the Brandenburg elector Frederick Wilhelm . In June, he received the rank of general from artillery (with retirement) and in the three-year possession of the Noendorf estate.

In 1680, Stefan Nemirich left Noendorf and returned to the Commonwealth, where he converted to Catholicism. In 1681 he enrolled in the brotherhood of St. Anne in Kobylin ( Greater Poland ), participated in negotiations with the Orthodox. In Kobylin, he settled after marriage to Theresa of Constance of Opalinsky, widow of Alexander Krzysztof Senyuta (marriage was signed in 1680/1681, there were no children). In 1681 he received the position of Kiev Kashtelan, and in 1682 he was appointed governor of Kiev.

From marriage to his first wife, Ariana Griselda Vilamovna, had 4 sons, of which the most famous is Vladislav Nemirich (d. 1706), a Novostseletsky warden who adopted Catholicism .
