He is the author or co-author of books and publications, as well as more than ten inventions in the field of glass-crystal materials, stained glass, foam glass and ceramic glazes.
Biography
Born on November 14, 1945 in the city of Troitsk, Chelyabinsk Region. My father came from the Ukrainian peasants ( Belousy ) of the Poltava province , who came to the Urals at the beginning of the 20th century to receive the land promised by the reform of P.A. Stolypin . Yuri’s mother came from a family of Volga Tatars who moved to the Urals after the October Revolution in 1921. Maternal grandfather was the director of one of the first Soviet banks in the Saratov region .
In 1964, Yuri entered the Ural Polytechnic Institute , studied at the Department of Glass Technology. After graduation, he continued his education in graduate school. In 1974 he defended his dissertation in the field of glass on industrial slags and then began working in one of the research institutes of the Urals, where he studied the issues of heat resistance of glazes and refractory materials. In 1978, his research was described in the documentary of the Sverdlovsk film studio . In the late 1970s, Yuri Belousov, as a young specialist, moved to Belgorod with the family in the then young institute BTISM (now Belgorod State Technological University ), founded by the famous Soviet scientist-researcher who made a scientific discovery, and the first rector of this university V. BUT. Ivakhnyuk (1929-2009).
While working at the institute together with a Leningrad scientist O. V. Mazurin , Yu.L. Belousov wrote the book Annealing and Tempering Glass, popular among glass engineers. In 1988, Belousov and Mazurin, together with other scientists, were the first in the USSR to develop dust-free sealing technology for medical glass ampoules. [1] In the late 1980s, Yu.L. Belousov and his colleagues developed a number of industrial glasses and solved a number of critical problems in the field of glass industry. For his contribution to the production technology of silicate materials, in 1983 Yuri Belousov was awarded the silver medal of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the USSR .
The main achievement of Yu. L. Belousov was the development of a large original method for calculating the viscosity of silicate melts based on the known viscosity equations and databases, which allows theoretically to obtain the viscosity values of glasses and cement melts in various temperature ranges without carrying out lengthy and expensive experiments.
Under his leadership, several candidate dissertations were prepared, three of which were defended after his death.
He died on May 4, 2000 in Yekaterinburg. He was buried in the city of Troitsk.
