Biography
Born on August 14 (according to other sources, on August 15 [1] ) in 1867 in the village of Komskoye, Minusinsk district, Yenisei province, in a family of sexton . Father died early, and the Chistyakov family lived in need.
In 1876, Pavel entered the theological school, then - to the theological seminary , which he graduated in 1888. After that, for eight years he worked as a public teacher. In 1896, he decided to continue his education and entered the medical faculty of Tomsk University . He took an active part in the student strike and was expelled, but was soon restored.
In 1902, Pavel Chistyakov graduated from the university and was left in the residency at the eye clinic, then worked as an assistant. In 1909, he defended his thesis for a doctorate in medicine on the topic “On the surgical treatment of trachoma” and for the next ten years worked as a privat-docent of Tomsk University. In 1910 and 1914 he traveled abroad to study the experience of European clinics - he was in Austria , Germany , Switzerland .
He worked in Tomsk until 1923. Prior to the October Revolution, he had the rank of college adviser . He participated in the organization of medical congresses in Siberia, in the editing of the medical journals "Siberian Doctor" and "Siberian Medical Journal". [2] He was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav 3rd degree (1911) and the medal "In memory of the 300th anniversary of the reign of the Romanov dynasty" (1913).
Since 1923 he worked in Perm, where he headed the eye clinic until the end of his life. In the clinic, work was launched to organize the treatment of many eye diseases, studies were conducted on eye injuries. P.I. Chistyakov owns more than 80 works. He trained four doctors and eleven candidates of science. His students headed the departments in Saratov , Lviv , Arkhangelsk , Tomsk .
In 1923-1930 he was a professor , and in 1925-1928 he headed the dean of the medical faculty of Perm University . When in 1931 the medical faculty of the university was allocated to the Perm Medical Institute , Chistyakov became its professor.
During the Great Patriotic War, P. I. Chistyakov worked in a clinic and consulted in evacuation hospitals. He was engaged in social activities, for a long time he worked as chairman of the Perm Scientific Society, and was repeatedly elected as a deputy of the Perm City Council. In Soviet times, he was awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and medals.

He died on September 20, 1959 in Perm. He was buried at the Egoshikhinsky cemetery near the Assumption Church. [3]

Memory
- In 1960, by resolution of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR, the clinic of eye diseases of the Perm Medical Institute was named after him. [2]
- In 2008, in the territory of the Perm Regional Clinical Hospital, the grand opening of the monument to P. I. Chistyakov took place. [2]
