Reality tunnel

First used this term by Timothy Leary , but later this concept was revealed in more detail by Robert Wilson in his books Prometheus Risen, The Psychology of Evolution (1983) and Quantum Psychology (1990), in which he expounds his concept of consciousness as a tunnel of reality, formed on the basis of the synthesis of the neurological theory of T. Leary with the relative quantum ideas of modern physics, the spiritual practices of Buddhism, as well as the achievements of sociobiology . ^[one]

Each person is closed in his own tunnel of reality created by his brain. Creating a reality tunnel is determined by the need for each person to self-orient himself in the environment and to model his own realities, the function of which is to ensure effective control of the ratio of pleasure and displeasure. ^[2]

Stages of Formation

1. Oral ("Natural Child"), during which a person develops sensations
2. Emotional ("Adapted Child") - the ability to feel develops,
3. Semantic ("Adult", or "Computer") - the mind develops.

Genetics

Since human DNA originated from primate DNA, they have a similar anatomy, nervous system, almost the same sense organs. DNA and the neuro-sensory apparatus creates what ethologists call the German word umwelt (German - um "around, around" and welt - "world" ) - the surrounding world or how it is perceived. Most animals perceive such a tunnel of the reality of their habitat, which allows most of the individuals of this species to live long enough to continue the race.

Imprints

Imprints are connections that connect neurons into reflex networks for a lifetime. Fundamental studies of imprinting have shown that the goose imprints its mother — that is, it begins to distinguish it from other geese and becomes attached to it shortly after birth.

Training

Like conditioning, training requires repetition, which, however, is complemented by motivation. ^[3]

• Harvard sociologist Tolcott Parsons used the word "interpretation" to denote how consciousness perceives reality. Understanding the world we are taught by those who are already part of a shared reality. According to Parsons, society is a system consisting of subsystems with which certain unspoken rules correspond.
• Research Norwood Rausl Hudson showed that the brain "filters" the information we receive as a result of our sensations. Such a “filtering” is unconscious and may be influenced by many factors, such as biological features, culture, which includes upbringing and communication language, life experience, preferences, value system, pathology, psychological state, etc.
• American psychologist and parapsychologist Charles Tart in his work "The Awakening" (1968) began to use the term "state of consensus" (eng. Consensus trans ). In his work, he described how each of us, from the very birth, becomes part of the “state” of society that we are in.

After the works of Robert Wilson were written, explaining in detail the meaning of the term “reality tunnel”, its author was repeatedly reproached with excessive contempt for fundamentalism and fundamentalists. Critics believed that he should apply the techniques described in his books, while being in a "fundamentalist" tunnel of reality. He was accused of being angry with insufficient attention to his work, he was tough, categorical in his arguments, too cynical and skeptical. ^[four]

The tunnel of reality has a big impact on a person’s life. The slogan "You create your own reality" is fully consistent with the principle of the tunnel of reality. The variety of tunnels is a tremendous evolutionary power of society, since people, aware of their importance, can learn from those whose imprints and training allow for improvement. The fact of existence of the possibility of changing the tunnel of reality is important. With the help of special techniques, a person can be introduced into a state of so-called imprint vulnerability, when he becomes more suggestible, and completely reprogram it: change the system of ideas, consciousness, perception of reality and the model of thinking. ^[5] Most people throughout their lives remain in the reality tunnel of their parents. Thus, the process of familiarizing oneself with culture is nothing else but a process of control over consciousness. Immediately after the birth, the child is subjected to the control of consciousness, as the process of socialization begins to operate. ^[6] There is not a single pair of people who have the same genetic programs, imprints, conditioning and learning experience, and consequently, the tunnels of reality. Each person lives in accordance with his tunnel, and for this reason, there is often a misunderstanding in interpersonal relationships.

Most often the conflict arises from the error “My tunnel of reality is the only correct one”, when a person has to deal with another person, whose tunnel of reality is also “the only correct one”.

The tunnels of reality increase the role of personality in history, make it possible to control and manipulate people. The tunnel of reality can be passed on through generations. It may include projects, words, concepts, tools, theories, music, etc. The formation of reality tunnels is partly due to symbols. Given that human beings are creatures that use symbols, such personalities as Moses , Confucius , Buddha still influence because they used symbolic systems. These systems include words, works of art, music, rituals, and “games,” through which culture is transmitted. Even more, people are under the control of the inventors of the wheel, the plow, the alphabet, etc. This confirms that those who rule the symbols, forming the tunnel of reality, rule the people. The nature of the character process is such that, if it has already begun, it is practically impossible for a person (without having professional neurological knowledge) to get rid of the reality tunnel that he created or is imposed by the environment.
