Šport ( Slovak FO ŽP Šport Podbrezová ) is a Slovak football club from the village of Podbrezova , Banska Bystrica region, Brezno district. It was founded in 1920 . The team spends home games at the ZELPO Arena stadium with a total capacity of 6,500 spectators.

History
The Šport football club from the village of Podbrezova (full name Podbrezová Šport Podbrezová ) was founded in 1920 under the name RTJ Podbrezová and has since played in the lower soccer leagues of Slovakia. In 2014, the team became the winner of the First League of the Slovak Championship and for the first time in its history climbed to the Super League . Starting from the 2014/15 season , Sport has been participating in the Premier League. The biggest achievement in the national cup is the semifinal in the 2000/01 season .
On July 11, 2014, Sport played its first Super League match. The game was held at the Pasienki stadium with one of the strongest clubs in Slovakia, Slovan , from the capital of Bratislava . The match ended with the score 1: 2 in favor of Slovan. [1] The first goal of the club in the major league was scored by Juraj Khovanchik , equalizing. [2] Sport played its first home game in the Super League on July 19 against Spartak from Miyawa . The game ended in defeat for the hosts with the same score that was recorded in the previous match with Slovan 1: 2. On August 2, the club finally won the first victory in the Premier League. In the fourth round of the championship at the home stadium, “Sport” defeated the club “ Dukla ” from Bansko Bistrica with a score of 3: 0. It is noteworthy that “Sport” won its first victory in the Super League in the derby, since both clubs represented the same region of Slovakia geographically.
The club is known for its youth program, thanks to which a number of talented football players who left the club academy joined the football Europe . A lot of outstanding football players played for “Sport” at different times. Such famous players as Michal Breznanik , Juraj Kutska , Peter Shtyvar , Robert Pikh and others began their professional careers in the club.
In addition to the developed club academy, “Shport” is working on a number of social projects designed to help talented youth break into the professional level. In the framework of the social project Inter Campus , the club collaborates with the Italian football club Inter . So, thanks to the “Sport” program, the Argentinean midfielder Pablo Podio joined the club from the Inter academy.
