Biography
The grandfather of Mujun Yun was Mujun Yun - the uncle of the founder of the State Early Yan Mujun Juan . In 370, Early Yang was destroyed by the state of Early Qin , and most of the Syanbians were resettled in the internal Qin lands, where Mujun Yun had to drag out a miserable existence. In 384, the Syanbians rebelled. Those of them who lived in the Qin capital region of Guangzhong , founded the state of Western Yang and seized the Qin capital Chang'an .
The first mention of Mujun Yune in historical documents dates back to the year 386, when General Han Yan arranged a palace coup, killed Mujun Chun and put General Duan Sui on the throne. A month after that, Mujun Yong, together with Muzhun Heng, killed Duan Sui and elevated Mujun Yi to the throne.
After that, the people of West Yan — about 400,000 men and women — left Chang'an and moved from Guanzhong to the east, to their native places. Along the way, when they were in the lands of modern Weinan , the brother of Mujun Hen Mujun Tao killed Mujun Yi, and Mujun Yao was raised to the throne. However, most people preferred him to General Muzhun Yun, who carried out a coup, killed Mujun Yao, and enthrone Mujun Jung, who gave Mujun Yun the title of “Hedun guna ” (河東 公). By this time they had already reached Wenxi , where they learned that Mujun Chui had already founded the Late Yan State on the native Yang lands. Not daring to go further, they decided to build the temporary capital of Yansi here. Three months after he ascended the throne, Mujun Jun was killed during a palace coup organized by General Diao Yun, who elevated Mujun Yun to the throne, proclaimed by the “Hedun prince” (河東).
The Qin troops, led by Emperor Fu Pi, attempted to attack Western Yan, but were defeated, and Empress Yang was captured. Having seized part of the land of Late Qin (central and southern parts of modern Shanxi province), Mujun Yun made his capital of Zhangzi and proclaimed himself emperor, thereby separating Mujun from Chuya. He wanted to make Empress Yang his concubine, but she tried to attack him with a sword and was killed. Fearing for their lives, the son of Mujun Chuya Mujun Zhou and the grandchildren of Mujun Sheng and Mujun Hui, who were marching from Guanzhong together with the forces of Western Yan, fled to the capital of Late Yan, Zhongshan . As it turned out, they did it in time, because in 387 or 388, Mujun Yun ordered the cutting of all descendants of Mujun Chuy and the last emperor Early Yan Mujun Jun .
Having settled in Zhangzi, Mujun Yun almost did not go on military campaigns - it looks like he was completely satisfied with the domain he got.
In 392, the Dinlin leader Zhai Zhao , whose father Zhai Liao founded the state Early Wei , was besieged by Muzhun Chuey in his capital Huatai , and asked for help from Mujun Yun. Mujun Yun wanted Mujun Chui and Zhai Zhao to exhaust each other in the war and, not realizing how Mujun Jui was stronger than Zhai Zhao, refused to help. Mujun Chui crushed Early Wei, Zhai Zhao fled to Western Yang and was given a princely title, but a year later, suspected of treason, he was killed.
In 393, Mujun Chui, on the advice of his brother, Mujun De decided to destroy Western Yang, in order to eliminate all doubts as to who was the true heir to the title of Yan emperors. In 394, Western Yan was destroyed, its capital, Zhangzi, fell, and Mujun Yong was killed.
