The Day of the Uprising against the Occupation ( Sloven . Dan upora proti okupatorju ), previously the Day of the Liberation Front ( Sloven . Dan osvobodilne fronte ) is a national holiday in Slovenia , which is celebrated on April 27 [1] . On this day of 1941, the Anti-imperialist front began to operate in the capital Ljubljana - exactly ten days after the Yugoslav army signed a surrender in Belgrade, and 14 days after the occupation of Slovenia by the Germans and Italians. After the German attack on the Soviet Union (1941), the front was renamed the Slovenian Liberation Front . The front existed until the final liberation of Slovenia in May 1945, was finally abolished in 1953 and transformed into the Slovenian branch of the Socialist Union of the Working People of Yugoslavia . On this day, Slovenes remember the partisans who contributed to the victory in the Second World War [2] .
