Kim Sok Chin [2] ( cor. 김석진 , Chinese. 金 碩 珍 ; born December 4, 1992 , better known as Chin [3] ) is a South Korean singer and songwriter . He is the oldest member and vocalist of the BTS boyfriend . [4] According to data from the Korean Association of Recording Companies (KOMCA), Chin is the author of five tracks in the group’s discography. [five]

Early life and education
Kim Sok Jin was born on December 4, 1992 in Gwacheon , Gyeonggi-do Province , South Korea . [6] In addition to his parents, he has an older brother in his family.
On February 22, 2017, Chin graduated from Konkuk University with a degree in art and acting. [7] Entered Hanyang University to continue studying other fields of activity besides music. [eight]
Career
2013 − present: BTS debut and career beginnings
For the first time, Chin was noticed while he was walking down the street and offered to audition at Big Hit Entertainment ; at that time he studied for an actor. [9] On June 13, 2013, he debuted as one of four vocalists in the BTS boy band with the single “No More Dream”. [10] Despite the fact that Chin had previously written songs, for the first time he became a co-producer in 2016 for his solo composition “Awake” from the album Wings . The song reached 17th place on the Gaon download chart and 6th position on the Billboard digital single chart . [11] [12] In December, a special Christmas version was published on SoundCloud . [13]
On August 9, 2018, a trailer for the upcoming BTS album was published, the intro for which was performed by Chin. Billboard editors described the song as “a pop-rock melody under construction,” the text touched on the concept of accepting yourself as you are and love of yourself. [14] The song reached 28 places on the download chart and 4 lines on the Billboard's digital single chart. [15] In October, Chin, along with the rest of the group, received the fifth-class Order of Merit in Culture from the President of the Republic of Korea . [sixteen]
2015 − present: Solo activity
Together with classmate Vee, in December 2016, he released the single “It's Definitely You” specifically for the drama “Hvaran: The Beginning”. [17] [18] In 2017, he took part in recording an alternative version of “So Far Away” from the mixtape Sugi along with Jungkook in honor of the fourth anniversary of BTS. Jin’s solo covers include “Mom” Ra.D, “I Love You” Mate and “In Front Of The Post Office In Autumn” by Yoon Do Hyun, the original of which was released in 1994. [19] [20] [21] All songs were released on SoundCloud. Kim has also repeatedly hosted various shows, including being a co-host at Music Bank . [22]
In 2018, he and his brother opened a Japanese restaurant in Seoul . In the same year, he was included in the list of “Most Preferred Idols” according to the Gallup Institute, ranking 11th. [23]
Charity
In December 2018, in honor of his birthday, the performer made a donation in the form of feed, bedspreads and treats to the Korean Organization for the Protection of Animals. [24] [25] On the same day, he sent 321 kilograms of feed to the Korea Animal Rights Defenders Organization (KARA). [26]
