A distinctive feature of the trains running on the line is their design - the windows are made in the shape of Mickey Mouse , the statues of Disney cartoons and unusual shapes are installed in the carriages.
History
In 1998, the American company Walt Disney Parks and Resorts proposed the Hong Kong government to build a Disneyland theme park on Lantau Island. In 1999, the Legislative Council of Hong Kong approved the project and approved for this purpose the territory of the former shipyard in Penny Bay. Soon after, the Hong Kong International Theme Parks joint venture was created, in which the Walt Disney Company received 43% of the shares, and the Hong Kong government - 57% [3] [4] .
The construction of the park and the ground line of the metro started in early 2003. The Disneyland Resort line was completed in April 2005 and began operating on August 1, 2005. The full passenger traffic started on September 12, 2005, when Disneyland Amusement Park officially opened (the opening ceremony was attended by Hong Kong head Donald Tsang , Vice President of the People's Republic of China Zeng Qinghong , Chief Executive Officer of the Walt Disney Company Michael Eisner and President Robert Eiger ). The peak of traffic falls at 08: 00-10: 00 and 21: 00-23: 00, when the park opens and closes, respectively.
Stations
There are only two stations on the line, and trains carry passengers to and from the amusement park. At Sunny Bay Station, you can transfer to the Tunghong line . Station Disneyland Resort is made in the Victorian style , and Sunny Bay Station - in the futuristic . Thus, passengers moving between stations experience the feeling of “time travel” [5] .

Train Design
The line uses unmanned electric trains Metro Cammell EMU (or M-Train), produced in the UK (the plant is part of the French engineering company Alstom ). Before the opening of the Disneyland Resort line in 2005, the old M-Train trains were completely updated. In the cabins, bronze statuettes of Disney heroes were installed, including Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck , the windows of the cars were made in the shape of Mickey Mouse's head contours with characteristic protruding ears [6] [7] .
