Elmar (Almar) Evaldovich Lille ( January 9, 1929 - January 25, 1994 , Yekaterinburg ) - Soviet skier and ski trainer. Biography
Elmar Lille was born on January 9, 1929.
Even during the Great Patriotic War in December 1944, at the age of sixteen, he was employed as a carpenter in workshop No. 109 at the Ural Heavy Engineering Plant in the city of Sverdlovsk . In addition to working in production, he entered the central ski section of the factory and began training under the guidance of Honored Trainer Lyudmila Petrovna Gornostaeva .
He made his debut at the all-Union level competitions already in 1945. In 1946 he became a member of the Sverdlovsk city ski team and won the youth championship of the Soviet Union in the 4 Γ 5 km relay race. A year later, at the All-Union Championship among juniors, he won the silver medal in the relay and took fourth place in the individual 10 km race.
In the period 1950-1960, Lille served in the Armed Forces of the USSR , was in the Sverdlovsk SKA. He achieved the greatest success in his sports career in the 1952 season, when he joined the Soviet national team and played at the USSR home championship in Sverdlovsk , where together with partners Alexander Khramtsov, Nikolai Sobolev and Pavel Shiganov, they won the silver dignity in running patrols on 30 km - in this race they were only beaten by the titled skiers of another army team Pyotr Volodin , Anatoly Borin , Viktor Butakov and Evgeny Korotkov. For this outstanding achievement at the end of the season he was awarded the title " Master of Sports of the USSR " [1] .
After completing his sports career in 1960-1968, Elmar Lille worked as a ski racing coach at the Uralmash physical education team, was a member of a factory sports club and led the factory national ski racing team. Since 1969, he held the position of head of the ski base in Sverdlovsk. Excellent student of physical education and sports .
He died on January 25, 1994 in Yekaterinburg at the age of 65. He was buried in the Northern cemetery .
