History
The village was founded in 1911, when it was called Nurai. According to the 1926 census of the USSR, in the village there were 27 households, 117 residents (59 men and 58 women). In 1929, it was part of the Bolshe-Voronezh Village Council with a center in the village of Bolshevoronezh [1] .
The name Nurai most likely comes from the Buryat nuur - “lake” [2] .
Over time, the name changed in Urai. In 1966, the Urai district was part of the Filippovsky Village Council [3] .
The village ceased to exist due to the enlargement of collective farm and state farms and the recognition of small settlements as unpromising [4] . On the topographic map of the General Staff of the USSR in 1984, the village of Urai is marked as residential [5] , on the topographic map of the General Staff of the USSR in 1985 - already as non-residential [6] . From this it follows that the settlement ceased to exist in 1984-1985.
