WebSpellChecker Software is multilingual software that searches for errors and typos of both individual words and voluminous texts. The service is based on the use of spelling dictionaries in 158 languages and the selection of the correct spelling options. The target audience covers customer management systems [1] , Internet marketing tools, education and government agencies.
Creation History
In 2000, the American company SpellChecker.net, Inc. created the WebSpellChecker product. [2] In June 2016, software rights were sold to the Ukrainian company WebSpellchecker LLC. The development team is located in Kharkov. [3]
Products and Integration
WebSpellChecker integrates and is used in conjunction with HTML elements: input, textarea, iframe, etc. It is also available as plug-ins for such popular text editors as CKeditor [4] 4+, TinyMCE 4+ [5] and Froala [6] . At the end of May 2017, WebSpellChecker Software became available to all WordPress users. [7] And already in June 2017, WebSpellChecker launched the free Slack spell checker application in 8 languages. [eight]
WebSpellChecker provides four products:
- SCAYT - spell checking during the writing process allows the user to instantly correct defects. Errors or typos found are underlined by a red wavy line. Correction is made by clicking on a word and choosing from the drop-down list of recommended replacements.
- WSC - spelling in a separate window occurs after inserting a fragment of text into the field and clicking the "Check spelling" button. The functionality for checking English grammar and Thesaurus is also implemented for this product.
- The Web API is a list of JSON / XML commands and interfaces that can be used to set user preferences for spell checking.
- WProofreader is a new product with a modern user interface that combines the functionality of SCAYT and WSC.
Compatibility
WebSpellChecker software is compatible with Windows and Linux platforms with a pre-installed and configured GCI-compatible web server ( IIS or Apache) or JE22 based on the Apache Tomcat or Weblogic application server .
WebSpellChecker supports the following browsers: Internet Explorer 9+, Firefox (last), Google Chrome (last) and compatible with Safari (last), EDGE .
Supported Languages
WebSpellChecker supports oprography for 16 languages by default. Of these, grammar checking is still available for 14 languages [9] .
