The son of a village priest. He studied at the Theological Seminary. Husband of literary critic Elena Koltonovskaya .
Since 1894, he placed original and translated poems in Russian Wealth, Herald of Europe , God's World, The Journal for All , etc. They came out as a separate edition of Poems (St. Petersburg, 1901 ).
