Total War: ARENA is a computer-based multiplayer free-to-play [1] online game developed by Creative Assembly in the historical setting of wars of the period of antiquity .

It is part of a series of strategic computer games Total War , but, unlike other games in the series, it does not have a global turn-based strategy mode — only battles directly — and is designed for a multiplayer game [2] . Series designer Eric Russell compared Total War: ARENA to games in the MOBA genre [1] .
The concept of the game is based on team battles of the warriors of Ancient Greece , Ancient Rome , the Ancient East , Carthage and barbarian tribes in the format of 10 for 10 players; at the same time, three units are available for each of the battle participants — up to one hundred soldiers in each [2] .
Development
In November 2016, Wargaming , SEGA and Creative Assembly announced that the game Total War: ARENA will be published worldwide under the brand Wargaming Alliance - the new publishing division of Wargaming [3] .
On September 1, 2017, a PTA based on Wargaming servers began.
On February 2, 2018, at 15:00, MBT began, which ended 10 days later, on February 12, at 13:00 [4] . On March 5, MBT was launched again.
In November 2018, it was announced that the project would be closed on February 22, 2019 [5] .
