Yemelyanova, Claudia Mikhailovna

Claudia Emelyanova (nee Konstantinov ; November 12, 1912 - February 25, 1990 , Sverdlovsk ) was a Soviet athlete who performed at the All-Union level in the 1930s and 1940s. Represented at the competitions the sports society " Dynamo " and the city of Sverdlovsk , 11-time champion of the USSR in various athletics disciplines, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR . He is also a master of sports in ski racing , a bronze medalist of the USSR championship in skiing.

Biography

Born November 12, 1912. She was fond of sports from early childhood, played basketball , volleyball , hockey , did gymnastics and cross-country skiing, but most of all succeeded in track and field athletics. I began to train seriously at the age of seventeen in 1929, at first I trained on my own, later there was a ward of coach V. I. Miroshnik.

In 1932 she participated in the Ural-Kuzbass Olympics, in 1934, she already set several records of the Ural region in individual athletics disciplines. She achieved her first serious success at the All-Union level in the 1937 season, when she joined the main team of the RSFSR national team and performed at the USSR Championship in Moscow , from where she won awards of gold and bronze dignity won in the 100-meter race and in the pentathlon program, respectively. A year later, she was the best in the 4 × 100 meter relay and the small Swedish relay, while in the 200 meter race she won bronze. A year later, she again became a bronze medalist in the 200-meter race and added a bronze medal from the pentathlon to the track record. In 1940, she became the champion of the USSR in discus throwing.

During the Great Patriotic War, she was engaged in the preparation of future soldiers of the Red Army , for some time she was in Moscow, where she participated in combat duty on the roofs of buildings, putting out the fires of the bombed capital. At the same time she continued to actively go in for sports, was trained under the guidance of her husband Nikolay Emelyanov, who was also a successful Ural athlete. She was a member of the Sverdlovsk Council of the Dynamo Sports Society.

In the 1943 season, at the next USSR track and field athletics championship, Klavdiya Emelyanova several times climbed the podium: won gold medals in the 200-meter race and the pentathlon, received silver in the 100-meter race. For these outstanding achievements, the first among Sverdlovsk athletes was awarded the honorary title " Honored Master of Sports of the USSR " in athletics. In addition, this season she performed at the USSR Championship in skiing , where she won a bronze medal in the running teams of 5 km as part of the national team of the city of Sverdlovsk. He is the master of sports of the USSR in ski racing.

Subsequently, for several years she remained an active athlete and continued to take part in major tournaments of national importance. So, in 1944, at the USSR Championship, she became the bronze medalist in the 100 meter race. The following season won the Pentathlon championship. The last time showed any significant result at the All-Union level in 1947, when as a member of the national team of the RSFSR, she won both women's relay races - 4 × 100 meters and 4 × 200 meters. A total of 11 times won the national championships, has in its account several records of All-Union value [1] .

After completing her career, she started coaching, in particular, she worked as an athletics coach at the Sverdlovsk Junior Sports School “Young Dynamo”. In 1954 she was awarded the Order of the Red Star .

She died February 25, 1990 in Sverdlovsk at the age of 77 years. She was buried in the city Shirokorechenskoye cemetery next to her mother - Emelyanova Evgenia Pavlovna (1884-1967) [2] .
