Biography

Stepan Kalmykov was born on October 29, 1974 in Moscow . After graduating from high school number 1243, he entered the Moscow State University in the Faculty of Chemistry , which he graduated in 1996. After that, he immediately entered graduate school at the Department of Radiochemistry of the same faculty. In 2001 he became a candidate of chemical sciences in the specialty "Radiochemistry", having defended his thesis on the topic "Migration of radionuclides through geochemical barriers". He has been working at MSU since 1998, first as an assistant, since 2007 as an assistant professor , and since 2010 as a professor . In 2008 he defended his doctoral thesis on the topic “The role of colloidal particles in the migration of actinides with groundwater”. In 2010 he became the head of the Department of Radiochemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry, Moscow State University. Since 2000, he is also a senior researcher at the Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry. V.I. Vernadsky of the Russian Academy of Sciences , since 2011 - Chief Researcher at the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry named after A.N. Frumkin, RAS [1] . Stepan Nikolaevich is the editor of Separation Science and Technology, a member of the editorial board of Radiochimica Acta [2] , Solvent Extraction and Ion Exchange, Radiation Safety Issues [3] , Radiochemistry [4] and Radioactive waste.

In October 2016, he was elected Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences of the Department of Chemistry and Material Sciences [5] .

Scientific Activities

The field of interest of the scientist is radiochemistry . For the first time, he showed the dominant role of colloidal particles in the transport of plutonium with groundwater from radioactive waste disposal sites , and also determined the physicochemical properties of this element in various geochemical conditions. He is the author of methods for isolating and separating radionuclides from aqueous solutions using carbon nanomaterials and methods for producing medical radionuclides for treating oncological diseases ( 225 Ac , 223 Ra , 67 Cu , etc.) [6] .

At the Moscow State University named after MV Lomonosov, he teaches courses on “Introduction to radiochemistry and radioecology ”, “ Nuclear spectrometry in chemical analysis”, “Methods for determining physicochemical forms of radionuclides and diagnostics of nuclear materials”, “Behavior of radionuclides in the environment” and " Isotope production and nuclear medicine " [7] .

According to Scopus, the author of more than 150 scientific papers and 7 patents [8] . The Hirsch Index is 15, the total citation of the scientist is 1300.
