Ekaterina Nikolaevich Chernous (nee Ilina ; November 19, 1919 , Nadezhdinsk ) - Soviet skier and athlete , speaking at the all-union level in the 1930s and 1940s. Biography
Ekaterina Ilyina was born on November 19, 1919 in the city of Nadezhdinsk (now Serov ) of the Sverdlovsk Region . She began to actively engage in sports while studying at school. In her childhood, she repeatedly won the city competitions in athletics and cross-country skiing. After nine classes of school, she found a job at a local metallurgical plant as an instructor in physical culture, joined the Metallurg Vostok voluntary sports society.
The first serious sporting success was achieved in the season of 1935, when she won the long championship of the central council of her sports society - later repeatedly repeated this achievement in various other athletics disciplines, including 80 meters hurdles and relay races 4 × 100 meters. In 1939, she improved her qualifications at the Gorky one-year school of physical education instructors at the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions , then went to work as an instructor at the U.I. Kirov Industrial Institute (now Ural State Technical University - UPI ), while continuing to regularly participate in competitions and in 1940 performed USSR Master of Sports in athletics.
She achieved the greatest success in skiing in 1943 when she performed at the USSR home championship in Sverdlovsk and won a bronze medal in the Sverdlovsk national team in the running of health teams for 5 km. A year later, she was awarded the title of Master of Sports in cross-country skiing.
During the Great Patriotic War, she married, gave birth to two sons. She graduated in absentia from the PF Lesgaft State Institute of Physical Culture (now the PF Lesgaft National State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Health ), after which she worked for many years as a senior lecturer at the Department of Physical Education, UPI, and also held the position Head of sports and mass work at the Faculty of Energy. From 1966 she was at the position of deputy head of the department of physical education, performed a lot of public and organizational work among students. Upon reaching retirement age, she continued to work at the institute, was deputy dean for educational work with students of the dormitory of the building faculty. In 1986, she moved to the post of UPI track and field athletics administrator.
