Harris Jayaraj

Harris Jayaraj ( tam. ஹாரிஸ் ஜயராஜ் ; born on January 8, 1975 , Madras , India ) is an Indian film composer who writes music primarily for films in Tamil . Winner of the Filmfare Awards South and other Indian film awards.

Biography

Harris, was born into a family of Tamil Christians in Madras . His father, S.M. Jayakumar was a guitar player who participated in the recording of musical accompaniment for films. [2] Harris attended film studios with his father since childhood and at the age of 12 began to participate in recording music as a keyboard player. Between 1987 and 2000, he played worked with twenty-five different composers in films in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Bengali and Oriya [3] , including A.R. Rahman , and [2] .

Harris debuted as a film composer in the Minnale melodrama , directed by in 2001. His first work brought him the Filmfare Award South for the best soundtrack for the film [4] . He also wrote the music for the remainder of the same year Minnale in Hindi, filmed by the same director. In 2003, the second Filmfare, as well as several other awards, was brought to him by the music for the next Menon film [5] [6] . Later, Harris composed music for his two remakes: in Hindi and Telugu. A major success came to him in 2005, when his musical tracks for the films and “ Overcome Yourself ” became hits. These two films brought him the Tamil Nadu State Prize [7] [8] and two Filmfare awards [9] .

With Gautam Menon, the composer continued to collaborate in all of his films from 2001 to 2008, until the release of the drama . This film and, released the following year, “ Elusive ” brought Harris a number of awards for best music [10] [11] . His music for the films , and was also awarded with various awards.

In addition to Tamil films, Harris wrote five Telugu films: Vasu (2002), Gharshana (2004), (2006), (2007) and (2010).
