In the process of development, it bore the name C-SUV - which actually means the C ompact S port Utility V ehicle - a compact sports and utility vehicle .
In February 2016, it became known that the car will receive the name Stelvio [2] .
The car is built on the same platform with the Giulia sedan and is presented in versions with exclusively rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive activated by means of a clutch [3] . FIAT management announced that the model will retain the sportiness in road habits, typical of Alfa Romeo cars. A lot of work will be done to improve the quality, reliability of new models, reduce operating costs. [one]
According to Alfa Romeo CEO Harald Wester, the compact crossover will be one of the locomotives for the implementation of the company's sales growth plan of up to 500 thousand cars per year [4] . In 2011, the target was adjusted to 400 thousand cars in 2014. [one]
