Eduard Karl Emanuel von Jachmann ( German: Eduard Karl Emanuel von Jachmann , March 2, 1822 - October 23, 1887 ) - German naval leader, vice admiral (1867).
Eduard von Jahmann was born in 1822 in Danzig , attended elementary school in Marienverdere .
He made his first voyage to the Caribbean in 1839 - 1844. In 1843 he completed training on the helmsman and from 1844 to 1848 served on the corvette SMS Amazone in the Mediterranean Sea and off the coast of America. In 1845 he received the rank of lieutenant, in 1848 he was appointed commander of this ship. From 1849 to 1852 he commanded a gunboat flotilla in Stralsund , and then received a transfer to the Prussian War Ministry.
In the rank of first lieutenant he took part in an expedition to America in 1853 - 1854 on the frigate SMS Gefion . Later he received the rank of lieutenant commander and was appointed head of the shipyard in Danzig . In 1857 he was appointed head of the department in the Admiralty . From 1859 to 1862 he commanded an expedition to China and East Asia aboard the frigate SMS Thetis .
In 1864, during the Second Schleswig War, he commanded all armed forces in the Baltic Sea . March 17, 1864 , after the battle of Yasmund , received the rank of rear admiral , and after the war he was appointed commander of the Navy in Kiel . In 1867 he received the rank of vice admiral and a position in the Naval Ministry. During the Franco-Prussian war of 1870 - 1871 he was the commander of forces in the North Sea . In 1871, he resigned after being appointed naval minister Albrecht von Stosh . In 1882 he received a noble title. In Wilhelmshaven , a bridge was named after him.
He died in Oldenburg . He was buried there, in the cemetery of the Church of the Holy Trinity .
