In Prince was the Chesapeake and Ohio railway network station. The settlement was founded in 1889 and named after one of the first settlers of William Prince [1] .

Prince is located in southern West Virginia on the New River . According to the US Census Bureau, the area has a total area of ​​5.23 km² (4.73 - land, 0.49 - water).

Population

According to the 2010 census, the population of Prince was 116 people (of which 44.8% were men and 55.2% were women), the city had 56 households and 30 families. In the area there were 83 buildings with an average density of 17.5 buildings per square kilometer of land. Racial composition : white - 99.1%, two or more races - 0.9% [2] .

The population of the area by age range according to the 2010 census was as follows: 17.2% - residents under 18 years of age, 4.4% - between 18 and 21 years old, 52.0% - from 21 to 65 years old and 16.4% - at the age of 65 years and older. The average age of the population is 44.7 years. For every 100 women in Prince, there were 81.3 men, while for every 100 adult women, there were already 95.9 men of comparable age [2] .

Of the 56 households, 53.6% were families: 33.9% of couples living together (8.9% with children under 18 years of age); 12.5% ​​are women living without husbands and 7.1% are men living without wives. 46.4% did not have a family. On average, 2.07 people conduct households, and the average family size is 2.87 people. 44.6% of the population lived alone, 17.9% were single elderly people (over 65) [2] .
