History

Date of establishment not established. Initially, it belonged to the yurt of the village of Kotovskaya in the Khopersky District of the Land of the Don Army (since 1870 - the Don Army Region ). Presumably founded in the second half of the 19th century. According to the List of Populated Places of the Earth, Donskoy’s troops, according to information for 1859, 121 men and 124 women lived on the farm. By its location on the Olshanka River, the farm was also known as Olshansky [3] . According to the 1897 census , 252 men and 269 women lived on Popovsky Farm. Most of the population was illiterate: literate men - 59, women - 3 [4] .

According to the alphabetical list of the populated areas of the Don Don Army Area of ​​1915, 263 men and 280 women lived on the farm, there were a farm board and a parish school, the land allotment was 1267 dessiatins [5] .

In 1921, the farm was included in the Tsaritsyn province . Since 1928 - as part of the Uryupinsky district of the Khopyorsky district (abolished in 1930) of the Lower Volga region (since 1934 - the Stalingrad region [6] , since 1936 the Stalingrad region [7] , since 1961 - the Volgograd region) [8] .

Geography

The farm is located in a forest-steppe , on the right bank of the Olshanka river (a tributary of the Khopra ), opposite the Olshanka farm, within the Khopersko-Buzuluk plain , which is the southern end of the Oksko-Don Lowland . The center of the farm is located at an altitude of about 90 meters above sea level. An alder forest grows in a lowland near the farm [9] . Soils are ordinary chernozems . The parent rocks are sands [10] .

By road, the distance to the regional center of Volgograd is 330 km, to the center of Uryupinsk - 6 km [11] .
