Phthisiology (from Greek ph . Σσις - consumptions + ἰᾱτρεία - treatment ) or phthisiology - a section of clinical medicine that studies the causes, patterns of spread and development mechanisms of tuberculosis , the pathological processes caused by it in the human body and methods for its prevention, diagnosis , treatment, rehabilitation of tuberculosis patients [1] . A doctor who graduated in this field is called a TB specialist [2] .
Phthisiology and related specialties
In TB dispensaries, tuberculosis rooms, hospitals, and sanatoriums, the TB specialist is involved in the diagnosis, treatment, dispensary observation and prevention of tuberculosis, provides advisory and methodological assistance to other medical specialists on issues of early detection and prevention of this disease, if necessary, sends them to other specialists, since the use is only conservative treatment and minimally invasive procedures are insufficient. In some countries, there is a separate specialty “phthisiosurgery” [3] . In Russia and Ukraine, thoracic surgeons are entitled to perform surgical treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis (only in the direction of TB doctors), and orthopedists are responsible for osteoarticular tuberculosis. Urologists and gynecologists are involved in the treatment of tuberculosis of the genitourinary organs, ophthalmologists are involved in eye tuberculosis, etc.
Isolation Restrictive Measures
Obstetrician-gynecologists in specialized anti-tuberculosis maternity hospitals, as well as in boxes and isolators of ordinary maternity hospitals, monitor pregnant patients with tuberculosis and receive births. The re-profiling of TB facilities into facilities for other purposes, as well as the development of their territories are strictly prohibited [4] .
