History

Baseball entered the program of the first Pan American Games , which took place in 1951 in the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, and has since been consistently represented in these multisports competitions. In the 1950s, the question of creating a continental confederation for this popular sport in America was repeatedly discussed, but for a long time the appropriateness of such a structure was called into question, since the activities of the International Amateur Baseball Federation were largely concentrated precisely on the American continent.

The constituent congress of the Pan American Baseball Confederation (СOPABE) was held only in October 1984 in Havana ( Cuba ), but the governing structures of the new organization were formed only in March next year during the II СOPABE Congress in Caracas ( Venezuela ) with the participation of representatives of 11 national baseball associations .

In 1987 , the first Pan American championship among men's national teams took place in Venezuela . The first similar women's tournament was held in 2009 . In 2015, women's baseball was first included in the program of the Pan American Games .
