The Medal for the Protection of National Monuments ( Polish Medal Opiekuna Miejsc Pamięci Narodowej ) is a Polish award established by the Committee for the Protection of National Monuments ( Polish Rada Ochrony Pomnikow Walki i Meczenstwa ) July 15, 1976 to award public organizations, communities and individuals for Merits for the protection and protection against vandalism of national monuments and architectural monuments, monuments and memorials at the sites of historical battles and battles, other objects of interest in studying the history of the state.

Regulation
The medal was awarded by the chairman of the Committee for the Protection of National Monuments on his own initiative or on the proposal of the Presidium of the Committee, the Secretary General of the Committee, voivodship committees for the protection of national monuments, Polish diplomatic institutions (if this concerned foreign citizens or organizations). Awarding the medal was confirmed by an award document presented with the medal.
On August 1, 2016 , the Committee for the Protection of National Monuments was abolished, and its competence passed to the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland and the Institute of National Remembrance.
Description
The medal "For the Protection of National Monuments" round with a diameter of 32 mm. It was made of gilded and silver-plated metal.
On the front side of the coin, four faces intersecting in the center form an equilateral knight's cross. The vertical shoulders of the cross are covered with the emblem of the Committee for the Protection of National Monuments. The emblem of the Committee is a trapezoidal obelisk covered in black enamel. In the upper part of the obelisk two swords are depicted, located vertically and directed with their points down. At the bottom of the obelisk is a cup with the Eternal Flame. Three flames are coated with red enamel. The obelisk is surrounded by a belt along the contour.
On the reverse side of the coin in its central part there is an inscription in four lines: “RADA / OCHRONY / PAMIECI WALK / I MECZENSTWA” (until 1988 the inscription consisted of six lines: “RADA / OCHRONY / POMNIKOW / WALKI / I MECZEN- / STWA”) .
The gold medal has all elements enamel-free, gold-plated, the silver medal - silver plated.
The images and inscriptions on the medal are convex embossed.
At the top of the coin there is an eye with a ring for attaching to the tape.
The ribbon of the medal “For the Protection of National Monuments” is red silk moire with five narrow longitudinal stripes of white in the middle. The width of the tape is 33 mm. The width of the strips is 2.2 mm. The distance between the strips is 2.2 mm.
The medal is worn on the left side of the chest after orders and state awards.
