History
The award was first presented in 2000 at the Millennium Dome in London, UK. The award ceremonies are held in different countries, which change every year, which, according to the organizers, should symbolize the worldwide success of Bollywood movie production. The event, held for the first time in just one evening, was later expanded to three days and included a wide variety of views, meetings, seminars. In every tenth year, starting in 2009, five special awards were introduced: Star of the Decade (actor and actress), Film of the Decade, Music of the Decade, and Director of the Decade [1] .
The 17th awards ceremony was especially striking. It was held in Madrid and was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Spain and India. The event took place four days in the presence of twenty thousand spectators. Bollywood was represented by 150 famous actors and actresses [2] .
With the high commercial success of the event, a number of Indian film critics and actors note not only its secondary nature with respect to the national Filmfare Awards (existed since 1956), but also its bias towards certain Bollywood dynasties [3] [4] [5] .
