Short Description
The events of the film describe the history of space exploration in the USSR from the 1920s to the 1960s. The picture begins with the first trial launches of improvised rockets ( GIRD ) and ends with the flight of the first man into space .
In the film "The Taming of Fire" for the first time, the curtain of secrecy over the rocket and space industry of the USSR was slightly opened. Under the fictitious names of the heroes of the film, the secret names of the designers of rockets and rocket technology were hidden at that time .
Story
1930 The young Andrei Bashkirtsev, who just graduated from high school, travels to Moscow with drawings of an independently constructed airplane. Illiterate drawings are rejected, but Bashkirs do not leave their dream - to build an airplane with a jet engine. But life disposes differently, and Bashkirtsev becomes the first person in the Soviet rocket science.

Types of movie characters and criticism
In the credits, the creators claim that this film is artistic, and its characters and current events are an abstract artistic fiction. D. Ya. Khrabrovitsky in his interviews in response to questions about the prototypes of the main character of the film indicated that in the Bashkirtsev figure he wanted to create some collective image of the designer of rocket and aircraft equipment; other directors and researchers in the history of space exploration also point to this [3] [4] .
Boris Chertok was dissatisfied with the film for the idealization of the heroes and excessive pathos , although not all of Korolev’s colleagues shared this opinion. In addition, Chertok considered the biography of Korolev, as an explicit prototype of the main character, excessively distorted to the detriment of the image of Bashkirtsev, even taking into account the abstract nature of the film [5] .
