Evgeny Aleksandrovich Chernyaev ( August 5, 1921 , Simferopol - December 14, 1992 , Moscow ) - Soviet and Russian film artist. Laureate of the USSR State Prize in the field of literature, art and architecture (1985) for the film "The Shore " [1] .

Biography and Creativity
Born in Simferopol, father is an employee, mother worked as a doctor.
Member of the Great Patriotic War , awarded the medal "For the capture of Berlin . " After the war he entered VGIK (graduated in 1952 , workshop of M. Bogdanov ).
From 1953 until his death, he was a production designer at the Mosfilm film studio. The debut film - “ Steppe Dawns ” did not appear on the screens. He worked with many masters of domestic cinema, including: Mikhail Schweizer , Alexander Fainzimmer , Alexander Alov , Vladimir Naumov , Andrey Tarkovsky and many others.
He acted as a production designer for the paintings “ Ivan Childhood ” and “ Andrei Rublev ” (together with I. Novoderozhkin and S. Voronkov ). According to Nikolai Burlyaev , in his diaries, Andrei Tarkovsky called Chernyaev one of the “four guarantors”, because of which he “takes on“ Andrei Rublev “” [2] . Sergey Urusevsky entrusted him with his debut picture “ The Race of a Pacer ”.
Another famous work by Chernyaev is the historical drama Legend of Thiel (1976), where he created most of the scenery based on paintings by Flemish and Dutch artists, in particular P. Brueghel the Elder . Fragments of the scenery were exhibited at VDNH in the same 1976.
In total, Evgeny Chernyaev is a production designer of 32 paintings. The last film - the political drama " Gray Wolves " was released a year after the death of Chernyaev in 1992 .
He was buried at Vostryakovsky cemetery .
A study is devoted to the artist in Tsvetaeva Scientific Readings in Tarus [3] .
