Regimental naming history

Over the entire period of its existence, the regiment changed its name several times:

  • 9th Separate Aviation Training Regiment ;
  • 858th Fighter Aviation Regiment;
  • 858th Assault Aviation Regiment ;
  • Military unit (Field Post) 27866.

The history and combat path of the regiment

The regiment is formed as the 9th separate aviation training regiment . On May 20, 1944, the regiment was reorganized into the 858th Fighter Aviation Regiment in the town of Onega of the Arkhangelsk Region, according to the 015/364 state, on Hurricane aircraft. From May 20, 1944, the regiment conducted combat work on the Karelian front as a separate fighter aviation regiment directly subordinate to the command of the 7th Air Army on Hurricane aircraft. From January 1945, the regiment was included in the 280th Assault Aviation Division of the Reserve of the UGSS [1] .

On February 19, 1945, the regiment was transformed into an assault aviation regiment according to the state 015/362 with rearmament on Il-2 planes on the basis of the Directive GSH Org / 10/132025 dated 02/11/1945 [1] .

  • from June 18, 1942 to May 20, 1944 (as the 9th outap);
  • from May 20, 1944 to November 14, 1944 (as the 858th iap).
