Mayuma Location

Mayuma is a suburb-port of Gaza that gained fame in Byzantine times . In the 4th century under Emperor Konstantin Mayum, she received the status of a policy , and here appeared her own bishop (jurisdiction of the Jerusalem Patriarchate ).
In the V century, supporters of monophysitism settled here.
Mayuma is associated with the life of a number of Christian ascetics: Hilarion the Great , John Rufus , Sevir of Antioch , Peter Iver (Bishop of Mayum of the V century ), Cosma Mayum (Bishop of Mayum of the VIII century ).
