Biography

Representative of the Lithuanian gentry clan Shields-Nemirovichi coat of arms " Yastrzhembek ". The son of Polotsk mayor Konstantin Martian Shield-Nemirovich (c. 1649-1712) and Ilyuminaty Frantskevich-Radziminsky (d. 1715), the daughter of David Frantskevich-Radziminsky and Elzbieta Grotkovskaya. The grandson of the Polotsk subcommittee, Justinian Shield-Nemirovich (d. 1677), the nephew of the Kashtelian of Smolensk, Krzysztof Benedikt Shield-Nemirovich (d. 1720 ), the cousin of the Kashtelan of the Mstislavsky, Yuzsef Shchit-Nemirovich, and the judge of the Zemstvo Polotsk Marzić Nemirovich Shield-Nemirovich .

In 1744, Jan Justinian, Shield , as the headman and ambassador of Polotsk, contributed to the breakdown of the Grodno Diet. Supporter of Sapieha and the Czartoryski Party . In 1754, he was appointed Infantile Coughland, but in 1760 he resigned from his post in favor of Jozef Jerzy Gilzen .

Owner of a number of estates. He lived in Yustiyanov , where he had a personal courtyard and an outfit military detachment, and also founded a church and a chapel. Together with his older brother Anthony and Jerzy Shield-Zabelsky, he founded the Dominican monastery in Volyntsi .

In 1728, Jan Justinian Shield-Nemirovich married Elena Rypinskaya, widow of Alexander Rudomin-Dusyatsky, daughter of the clerk of the Zemstvo Polotsk Basil Rudomin-Dusyatsky. Children from their first marriage:

  • Jozef , died in his youth, buried in Ushachi
  • Dorota , wife since 1755, of the coronetian Infant Jan Shadursky (d. 1771 ) - nephew of Jan Augustus Gilzen .

In 1733, he remarried to Barbara Khominskaya, widow of the elder of Markov Casimir Coscell, daughter of the great Lithuanian clerk, Ludwik Yakub Khominsky (d. 1739 ) and Anna Kozell-Poklevskaya, stepdaughter of Leon Kazimir Oginsky and granddaughter of Samuel Jerome Kocell. Children from the second marriage:

  • Justinian (1740-1824), Lithuanian Scribe clerk.

Stepfather of General Tadeusz Cocell .

He died in 1767 and was buried in a Dominican church in Volyntsi .
