Jan Piekło ( Polish: Jan Piekło ; born November 20, 1952 , Krakow , Polish People's Republic ) - Polish publicist , journalist and diplomat , Polish ambassador to Ukraine (2016-2019). As a journalist described the events of the Romanian revolution of 1989 and the war in the former Yugoslavia . The author of two books about the Balkans .

Biography

Born November 20, 1952 in Krakow. He graduated from the Jagiellonian University , Department of Polish Philology [1] .

In 1978-1981 - reporter for Gazeta Krakowska .

In 1982-1988 - participated in the underground editions of Solidarity . After the introduction of martial law in Poland , he practiced as a psychotherapist for working with adolescents [2] .

In 1989-1991 - Reporter in the newspaper Tygodnik Powszechny , and later - editor of the publication.

In 1991-1997 - freelance reporter in Yugoslavia .

Since 2000 - editor of FORUM magazine, dedicated to Jewish-Christian relations and cooperation.

In 2001-2002 - Coordinator in the Polish-American project “Bridges of Tolerance”.

Since 2005 - Executive Director of the Foundation for Polish-Ukrainian Cooperation PAUSI in Kiev and Warsaw .

May 27, 2016 - by the decision of the Polish Seimas Foreign Affairs Committee, he was approved as the new Polish ambassador to Ukraine [3] .

August 3, 2016 - appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine [4] .

October 26, 2016 [5] - January 31, 2019 [6] - Ambassador of Poland to Ukraine .
