Likely translation of the name from Chukot. Koygygytgyn - “a lake where there are many whirlpools” [4] .

Hydrography

The lake is located off the coast of the Anadyr Gulf of the Bering Sea, surrounded by sedge-cannon swamps of the Anadyr Lowland . The Tyneveem river flows through the lake [ specify ] , and several small rivers and streams flow into it. The coastline is smooth, almost no bays and bays are formed. In the central part of the reservoir is located the relatively large island of Ptichiy , connected by a narrow scythe with the southern coast.

Nutrition of the lake is snow and rain [5] .
