Biography
In 1813 he graduated from the Faculty of Law and Philosophy of the University of Vienna . At the same time he studied violin playing. From 1822, he was a violinist and head of the orchestra of the Theater in Josefstadt , from 1825, the Kernertner Theater in Vienna, from 1831-1837, the city music director in Munster , then . In 1848 he settled near Frankfurt, where he taught; among students: Franz Wülner and others. Based on the papers left by Beethoven and his personal memoirs (Beethoven's secretary; no earlier than 1819), he compiled a detailed biography of the composer, published in 1840, “Biographie von Ludwig van Beethoven” (T 1-2, Münster, 1840; 3rd ed., 1860 ; 4th ed., 1871; latest ed. Lpz., 1973). Many articles about Beethoven were also placed in various periodicals (Neue Zeitschrift für Musik, 1844, and others).
