Kanbashi ( Chinese: . , Pinyin : Kāngbāshí ) is the urban subordination region of the Ordos urban district of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region ( PRC ).

History
In 2003, the Ordos authorities, due to lack of water in the existing development of the Dongsheng area, began the construction of a new urbanized zone 25 km from it, in the area of three reservoirs near two villages that previously existed there. In 2006, the New Kanbashi District was formed as part of the Dongsheng District. In 2009, this new urbanized area became known throughout the world, as Al-Jazeera made a report about it, calling it a “ghost town”. In 2012-2014, the documentary "The Land of Many Palaces" was shot about him.
In 2016, Kanbashi was separated from the Dongsheng district into a separate district of urban subordination.
