Pogost-2

Pogost-2 ( Belorussian. Pagost 2 ) is a village in the Soligorsk district of the Minsk region , part of the Chizhevich village council . Until 2009, it was the center of the Pogost village council. The population of 574 people (2009) [1] .

Geography

Pogost-2 is located 10 km northeast of Salihorsk . The P55 highway passes through the village on the Radkovo - Lyuban section, and two more roads lead to Salihorsk and Slutsk. The village stands on the western bank of the Salihorsk reservoir on the Sluch River, not far from its northern tip, on the other bank is the village of Pogost-1 .

History

The villages of Pogost-2 and Pogost-1 are one of the former historical townships of the case, divided by the construction of the Soligorsk reservoir.

The first mention of the Pogost dates back to the 16th century, the village is referred to as belonging to the Slutsk principality , the possession of Olelkovichi . Since the 17th century, the Radziwill family owned the settlement [2] .

As a result of the second division of the Commonwealth (1793), Pogost became part of the Russian Empire, where it became the center of the volost of the Slutsk district of the Minsk province . In 1859 there were 46 courtyards here [2] . In the late XIX - early XX centuries, a noble estate was built in Pogost, from which several outbuildings were preserved [3]

March 25, 1918 Pogost was proclaimed a part of the Belarusian People’s Republic , January 1, 1919 became part of the BSSR . The status of the settlement was reduced to the village [2] .

Attractions

  • The estate of the late XIX - early XX century. The manor house has not been preserved. Preserved distillery, alcohol storage, several household buildings
  • The ruins of a steam mill at the beginning of the 20th century.
  • The building of the public school (early XX century)
  • Two monuments to fallen Jews - prisoners of the ghetto
