Olympus Alekseevich Chukanov ( July 23, 1914 - September 21, 2000 ) - Soviet state and party leader, first secretary of the Tula Regional Committee of the CPSU ( 1960 - 1961 ) and ( 1963 - 1964 ). Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor, Department of Engineering Technology, Tula Mechanical Institute (1956-1967).

Biography
Born July 23 (August 2) 1914 in the city of Tula in a working class family. After graduating from the Tula Mechanical Institute in 1938, he worked at the defense enterprises of Tula.
• 1938-1941 - master of the Tula Cartridge Plant;
• 1941-1950 - Deputy Head of the workshop, head of tool production at the Tula Arms Plant (Mednogorsk, Tula);
• 1946 - Assistant, Department of Engineering Technology, Tula Mechanical Institute;
• 1950-1952 chief engineer of the Tula combine plant;
• 1952–1955 Director of the Tula Combine Plant;
• 1955-1960 - second secretary of the Tula Regional Committee of the CPSU;
• 1960-1961 - First Secretary of the Tula Regional Committee of the CPSU;
• 1961-1962 - Head of the Department of Engineering and Metalworking Industry of the Council of National Economy (Economic Council) of the Tula Economic Administrative Region;
• 1963-1964 - First Secretary of the Tula Industrial Regional Committee of the CPSU;
• 1964-1967 - second secretary of the Tula Regional Committee of the CPSU;
• 1967-1986 - Deputy Head of the Department of the Central Committee of the CPSU for Relations with the Communist and Workers Parties of the Socialist Countries.
• Since 1986 retired.
He died on September 21, 2000 in Moscow . He was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery .
